Your Faith

Matthew 9:22 (AMPC): “Jesus turned around and, seeing her, He said, Take courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well. And at once the woman was restored to health.”

In Luke 18:8, Jesus asks whether He will find faith on the earth when He returns. Perhaps it’s a good idea for us to ask this question of ourselves now, before He returns. Do we operate in the faith that Jesus provided for us to possess, in order to live the life He set out for us to live here on earth? The woman in Matthew 9:22 had been dealing with an oppressive disease for years. She had exhausted every possible avenue for breakthrough, until she heard of Jesus. Reading the various accounts of her story in the Bible, we learn how her faith caught the attention of Jesus and secured her miracle. Firstly, once she heard about Jesus, she resolved to encounter Him. We must determine to keep our hearts and minds fixed on hearing the truth about Jesus with the full expectation of encountering Him. Constant awareness of who God is enables us to live in the reality of His Presence. Secondly, she kept confessing her conviction; telling herself that if she could just touch His garment she would be made whole. Filling our mouths with the Word we believe to be true sets our path in the direction of faith. Thirdly, she touched Jesus, despite the crowds, and the danger of death. Our hunger and determination to experience the touch of God on our lives provokes the attention of Jesus! Many people touched Jesus that day, but her touch caught His attention. He expects us to have tenacious faith; don’t be satisfied with anything less.
