The Prince of Peace

Luke 2:13-14 (NIV): “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favour rests.’”

In Isaiah 9:6, Jesus was introduced to us, “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace”. At His birth a heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God in heaven, while declaring peace on earth, because God was now with us! Jesus had finally been born and had come to dwell among mankind. By studying Jesus’ earthly ministry, we discover that true peace is not the absence of fear, but the presence of Jesus. Some people still argue that it’s impossible to experience such ‘true peace’, considering Jesus is no longer physically on the earth. But the Bible tells us that before Jesus ascended into heaven, He said: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27). Jesus didn’t abandon His church when He left this earth. He sent His Own Holy Spirit to not just live among us, but within us. His Own presence inside us is our peace! This Christmas, understand you have perfect peace living on the inside. You can yield to it, and have it dominate every thought and conversation. You can experience His perfect peace, joy and love, as His favour rests upon you and your family – because the Prince of Peace lives in you.
