1 Thessalonians 2:13 (AMPC): "And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [[c]exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it]."
God's word exercises its superhuman power in whoever does what it says, trusts in it wholeheartedly, and completely relies on it to do its work in their lives! What a promise! We know from John 1, that Jesus is the Word in the flesh, and that His Spirit is the enabler. Since He is the Spirit of truth and always leads us to truth - it would make perfect sense to trust and expect Him to make what we read from the word come alive to us - to the extent that it becomes our own truth. This is what happened to the Thessalonian church. The truth of God's Word was so effective in their lives, that it caused them to live completely free of the power of sin and its bondages, and full of the power of God. Even when persecution hit, they grew stronger because the word of God was established within them. Their experience of God's word wasn't empty words. They regarded and honoured it as the very words of God! They believed it was alive, active, sharp and powerful; and it proved to be just that in their lives. God watches over His Word to perform it, and it never returns to Him empty or void, without producing exactly what it says it will do. Choose to remain steadfast in the word of God, knowing that its truth is working effectually in your life!
