Luke 20:38 (AMPC), “Now He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all men are alive [whether in the body or out of it] and they are alive [not dead] unto Him [in definite relationship to Him].”

Jesus had been teaching in the temple when the religious leaders began to challenge Him on His authority to teach the scriptures. It was obvious that He knew His subject matter well, but they were determined to try have Him discredit Himself in front of the people by asking Him trick questions. One of the questions Jesus was asked was concerning heaven. The Sadducee’s did not believe in life after death, yet they hypocritically questioned His knowledge on it. They asked Him about a hypothetical scenario based on the teaching of Deuteronomy 25, where if a woman’s husband dies, she is to be married to his brother. They asked Jesus who that woman would be married to when she reaches heaven, if she had gone through this process of marrying her deceased husband’s brother 7 times! (Luke 20:28-33). In His response, Jesus used the opportunity to teach us all something about heaven. The first thing is that in heaven there is no marriage, relationships will be different there. That’s because we will all be married to Jesus, not each other (Ephesians 5:31; Revelation 19). The second truth is that there will be no death in heaven. The reason being, there is no sin in heaven. Romans 5:12 explains how death came to all men through sin. Revelation 21:4 says, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away.” In John 5:24 Jesus said when we believe in Him, we partake of His eternal life, and we pass over from death to life! Even though our natural, physical lives die - our spirits are alive to God and live with Him forever! The moment we became born again - we received eternal life! That life is working in us whether we are still here on earth in our physical bodies, or if we are in the location of heaven in our spirit-form. Jesus said we are alive to Him in definite relationship with Him! That relationship doesn’t happen only when we are with Him after we leave the earth. It is something we enjoy, to the fullest measure while we are here on earth too! Spend time today enjoying fellowship with the Lord Who said He sticks closer than a brother - because He has made you alive in Him forever!
