Isaiah 45:2 (AMPC), “I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron.”
 

History tells us that Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Persian Empire. Even though he was a pagan ruler over Babylon, God anointed and used him to bless His people greatly. Cyrus freed the Jewish people from their Babylonian exile and allowed them to return to their God given homeland and rebuild their city of Jerusalem and the 2nd temple. Cyrus didn’t just make the decree to do all this for the Israelites, he provided support, funding and supplies for the project too. Verse 2 of Isaiah 45 is part of a prophecy where God promises to clear the path ahead of Cyrus, making every obstacle, no matter how challenging, dangerous, or seemingly impossible - easy to overcome! Now, according to Romans 15:4, whatever was written in the scriptures, long before the New Testament, we are to draw from to give us hope and encouragement, as we wait patiently for the fulfilment of God’s promises. Which means we can most certainly take this prophecy for Cyrus - who was a foreign king and make it our own. Just as God promised Cyrus that He would personally go before him and make the crooked places straight, the very care you have laid before the Lord, He will directly intervene in and remove any obstacles, difficulties or opposition that is in the way of that need being met. When the Lord said that He would, “break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron”, He meant that He would use His power to break down and overcome any impenetrable barriers that stand in the way of God’s promise being fulfilled. Understand today, as you place your trust in the Lord, commit your ways to Him and roll every care over to Him - He will go before you, clear the path, break down obstacles, and provide whatever is needed to see you walk in absolute victory!
