Give Your Full Attention to the Word

1 Timothy 4:13 (NKJV), “Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”

In order for us to walk in victory and the reality of every benefit of the finished work of the cross, it’s essential to give our full attention and consideration to the Word of God. When our minds and hearts are dominated by revelation knowledge and truth, we will be able to immediately recognize which thoughts are designed to pull us away from faith in God, and which inspire us to remain locked into victory. And when we do recognize thoughts that do not have the nature of God in them, we are to immediately and forcefully pull them right down, out of our imagination - refusing them any place in our though life! 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”.  In other words, we take those thoughts that are contrary to God’s truth and that stir up un-righteous emotions of fear or strife or mistrust inside us - and reject them with force! Then we replace them with what God’s Word says! We meditate and wholeheartedly focus on God’s truth over what we are facing until it is rooted and grounded and firmly established in our thought life, dominating over our thoughts. That’s because whatever thoughts we magnify or exult in our minds - we magnify and exult in our lives. 1 Timothy 4:16 says, “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” Do you notice how Paul tells Timothy to watch himself as much as he is to watch the doctrine of the Word? It’s not enough to just know the truth, we need to make sure we make that truth our own and have it infiltrate our belief system - so it becomes our automatic response. When we do this, we save ourselves and those who are watching us, from being overwhelmed and overpowered by the wrong flow - the flow of the curse - instead of the flow of the redeemed! James 1:25 says, “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” You will reign in life and be blessed in all you do, as you give the Word your full attention today!
