Acts 3:16 (AMPC), “And His name, through and by faith in His name, has made this man whom you see and recognize well and strong. [Yes] the faith which is through and by Him [Jesus] has given the man this perfect soundness [of body] before all of you.”
There is authority in the Name of Jesus! Peter and John had faith in the Name of Jesus, and that is what released the authority they had been given to do the works of God. Mark 16:17-18 tells of the signs that always accompany the Name of Jesus - when we have faith in that Name: “And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.” It takes more than just believing in the healing and delivering power of that Name; it takes speaking and acting with authority and confidence in that Name too. In Acts 3:6, When Peter and John ministered to the cripple man at the temple gates, they made it clear that what they had to give him was far more valuable than anything money could buy! They could offer him what was resident in the powerful Name of Jesus! The fact of the matter is they could not offer anything they didn’t already possess. They released the wealth of faith and authority they had in the Name of Jesus! As a result, the man who had been lame since birth was instantly made whole. This takes the pressure off of the believer, doesn’t it? We don’t perform the miracles, we just believe, speak and in confident authority proclaim the Name that is far greater than every other name! That’s because believing in the Name signifies trusting in the power, authority and character of Jesus Christ. Anyone operating through faith in Jesus’ Name is operating in their delegated authority as His ambassador on earth. In Mathew 28:20 is where Jesus specifically delegated His authority to His followers - until He comes back again! It’s time for you to have the same confidence Peter and John had in the power that resides in the Name we wholeheartedly believe in! Believe, speak, and act confidently in that Name and expect to see demons flee and healings flow!
