James 1:17 (TPT), “Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change.”

Praise God for all He is and ever will be! There is none like Him. His character is consistently good and unchanging. He is the Father of lights - the source of all things good! In fact, the light this verse refers to, includes the light of His glory that caused the entire universe to be created! He is the ultimate source of blessing, and He promises to withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly! (Psalm 84:11). In fact, Matthew 5:45 says, “…He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” He is good, generous and trustworthy - all the time! Even during difficult times, His nature remains steadfast. Who God does not change when our circumstances change. He doesn't go from being a good God to a bad God when things get tough! In fact, it’s in the difficult times that we can take a hold of everything He has already provided for us - to overcome every time. The unchanging, always stable, ever dependable character of God is a foundation we build our faith in Him on! He is consistent in His nature! Just as the sun can never be in a shadow, God can never have darkness in Him - He is ever and always light and truth. If we turn away from Him, we walk away from the source of our help and blessing and into the shadow of not knowing or receiving His redemptive power. No matter how distracting hardships can become, as long as we keep our gaze on the Lord and acknowledge every good thing we have in Him - we will have a mighty surge of His faith rise up within us. It will strengthen us to resist the devil and refuse the temptation to turn away from trusting God. We will believe we are Who God says we are, and that we have what He won for us on the cross - which is a full, abundant life of victory and promise!  Keep your eyes on the Lord - His faithful character will never change!
