Psalm 119:15 (NKJV), “I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.”

There is so much to be said about meditating on the Word of God. Instead of superficially scanning the pages, taking time to read and meditate on its truths will open up a whole new way of life for us. It’s called the higher way, because it’s God’s way, and it always brings supernatural results. Reflecting on how God’s Word can be applied to our everyday lives brings value beyond our wildest imaginations! In Joshua 1:8-9, Joshua was told to meditate on God’s Word day and night. The Hebrew word for meditate is hagah it means to mutter or speak quietly. It implies deeply pondering and reflecting on what you are reading or hearing. Then, it means to have those words occupy your thoughts and guide your actions. I once read a great analogy on meditation, by Dr. Leon van Rooyen. He said it can be likened to a cow chewing the cud to extract all the nutritional value from its food. As we take the time to deeply reflect on scripture, carefully and deliberately contemplating what it says in order to understand and internalize its truths and promises in each word - the Holy Spirit quickens it to us! That means, He sheds revelation light on what we are looking intently into, so we suddenly understand it in a way that literally releases an infusion of life, peace, and joy - all at the same time! It’s as though a curtain that was covering a large window is suddenly opened - revealing a beautiful view that was always there, just concealed from us, until that moment. This is where the truth we are meditating on literally takes root and becomes firmly established in our hearts and lives - moving us into a place of spiritual growth and transformation! Today, as you give yourself to going deeper into God’s Word and start living out what has been made alive in your heart - you will begin to reap the benefits of walking in God’s ways which are greater than anything money can buy!
