Psalm 119:72 (NLT), “Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver.”
Psalm 119 focuses on the wealth of God’s Word. We know that all scripture is inspired by God. It is alive with His Spirit. (2 Timothy 3:16). Anyone who opens their heart to receive its wisdom with the intention of knowing God’s heart and ways, will not be disappointed. In fact, they will open their lives to an immense cache of spiritual wealth and treasure which has a value that far outweighs any material wealth. In fact, when we give ourselves to studying and meditating on God’s Word, we become so delighted in its truth, because it enriches us in every possible way. God’s instructions to us have more worth than anything this world has to offer. While gold and silver are finite, material possessions that can be lost, stolen, or even lose value over time; God's instructions offer guidance and wisdom that lead to a life overflowing with His goodness and blessing, that can never lose value or worth. When we regard God’s Word as our treasure, giving it the honour and attention it deserves, it produces a life that attracts favour and prospers us in every way. That’s what comes from putting God’s Word first in our lives. As wonderful as this sounds, unless we actually allow the Word to transform us, and we actively apply its wisdom to our daily lives, we won’t experience the prosperity it promises us. In reality, the Word of God cannot be treated as a mechanical formula for success - it is alive and instantly discerns and reveals the intent of our hearts towards it. Delighting in the Spirit of God’s Word, means delighting in the Person of the Word! The result is Him granting us the desires of our hearts! (Psalm 37:4). Psalm 3:5 explains that as we delight ourselves in the Lord, and commit our way to Him, He will personally bring each promise to pass in our lives. Embrace a living relationship with the Word, and your life will never be without the richest measure of His boundless treasure.
