Joshua 1:9 (NKJV), “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
There are approximately 365 verses in the Bible instructing us to not fear! That’s one verse for every day of the year. Why is it so important to refuse fear? According to 2 Timothy 1:7, fear is a destructive spirit. When we are pulled into the realm of fear, our faith becomes contaminated by unbelief and ends up being inoperable. Without faith operating in our lives, it’s not possible to believe in and access what Jesus paid on the cross for us to have - which really doesn’t please the Lord. Since Joshua had to step into the shoes of his predecessor, Moses, he could not afford to have his faith paralyzed by a spirit of fear. Without faith he wouldn’t even be able to hear from the Lord, which would make his assignment impossible. In the verses immediately before God’s instruction for Joshua to refuse fear, He gave a clear plan on how he could completely combat and eradicate the force of fear in his life. God’s formula for Joshua is the same formula we are to apply to our lives to live free from fear and full of faith too. We are to keep a single-minded focus on the Word of God. A mind that is focused to the thoughts of God, is a mind that is saturated with His wisdom and set on a course for victory. Joshua was not to be distracted by any opinion or thought that was outside of God’s perspective. As we purposefully meditate on God’s Word, our thoughts align with His and our minds become renewed to its practical, supernatural wisdom. A renewed mind attracts and draws the flow of God’s faith and power to rise up from our spirit-man. In fact, the full flow of God’s glory is released into our souls, bringing the force of joy and peace that washes over our thoughts and emotions. Then, as we speak words that align with God’s Word, from the conviction of our hearts, they are empowered by faith and produce exactly what we declare. Fear has absolutely no chance to derail our faith and work its destruction in our lives while the life of God is flowing unhindered inside us. Refuse the flow of fear today as you deliberately keep your mind renewed to God’s Word - your success in every area of your life depends on it!
