Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV), “He has made everything beautiful in its time…”
Sometimes we become impatient in our faith walk and try to make things happen in our own time, instead of trusting in God’s plan and seeking His guidance, rather than our own strategies. The Bible tells us that God knows the end from the beginning concerning all things (Isaiah 46:10), and we can confidently put our trust in Him to see His perfect will fulfilled in our lives as we walk yielded and obedient to His leading. Throughout history things have gone horribly wrong when people took things into their own hands, without the guidance of God. Sarah and Abraham, driven by impatience and fear, took matters into their own hands by having Hagar bear a child for Sarah. It may have seemed to be a quick solution, but it resulted in family conflict, heartache, and ultimately, a complex situation between two nations that is still playing out to this day. Throughout the Old Testament, the Israelites repeatedly chose to rebel against God's commands, taking matters into their own hands, which led to consequences like famine, war, and exile, and an entire generation not entering their promised land. When Moses was on Mount Sinai, the people became impatient and decided to take matters into their own hands, making a golden calf to worship. The result was thousands of people dying by the sword that day. For believers, there is no mystery concerning God’s best plan for our lives. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, we can know God’s will for every situation and have Him guide us through the process up until what has been promised is manifest. We will never be tempted to take matters into our own hands when we remain vitally connected to the Lord and move with Him to see His perfect plan unfold in His perfect time.
