Molded into His Image

Romans 8:29 (AMPC), “For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.”

How beautiful is this truth! We were always destined to be “molded into the image” of Jesus! This is God’s will for us, to become like His beloved Son, and to share in the inheritance He has made available to us. When our purpose is to know Jesus, and we create a lifestyle of pursuing Him, the Bible says we will be continually be transformed into His likeness. (Philippians 3:10). Being ‘molded’ into the image of Jesus, to put it simply, is to resemble Him on the inside first! As we allow His nature and character, and His love for others, to become our own - it will begin to flow out of us. So, when people sense Jesus in and about us, they are compelled to want to know Him more - for themselves. To resemble Jesus on the inside takes us spending time with Him. We can’t become like Him if we don’t even know Him! To know Jesus, is to encounter Him in His Word, by the Holy Spirit enlightening Him to us. Each time you open the scriptures, expect to hear directly from the Lord, expect to see and experience an aspect of His nature and character in it. Then take a moment to let that truth about Him soak in, so you can embrace Him in it! As we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, to implement what we have learnt about Him and His ways, we begin to live surrendered to Him. The greatest indication of the Words’ transforming power will be the shift from a mentality of “this is all about me”, to a mentality of “Jesus, this is all about You!” God is serious about relationship and communion with us, the question is, do we have the hunger and urgency inside us to pursue Him too? Becoming like Jesus is our ultimate pursuit, and He is always ready to reveal and manifest Himself to us when we approach Him with true humility and hunger - to know Him and learn from Him. Open you heart to Him today, and He will guide you into the great and beautiful blessings that are only found in knowing Him and being transformed into His image.
