The Reward of a Sincere, Thankful Heart

John 4:23 (NKJV), “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”

Did you know that God’s desire for intimacy with us far exceeds our desire for intimacy with Him? The Bible says He is seeking those who will come to Him in worship. The spirit of a believer exists in 2 places simultaneously. Since we are one spirit with Christ, His Spirit dwells within us, and our spirits are also seated with Him - in heavenly places! Which is why Hebrews 4 invites us to come boldly into the throne room to receive from the Father! However, there is a way we are expected to approach Him. It must be done with hearts that are sincerely grateful to Him. Psalm 100:4 tells us we enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and His courts with praise! We don’t approach the Lord in worry or fear or even shaking an angry fist at Him for not responding to our needs according to what we requested. No, approaching our Father is always to be done in reverence and honour, where our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for who He is, and what He has already done for us - according to the truth of His Word! A disrespectful heart is an ungrateful one, and it will block the flow of His blessing in our lives. A thankful heart is always the appropriate attitude to approach the Father. It’s not to appease Him, but to make way for the unhindered flow of His life, blessing, favour and power to infiltrate every area of our lives. Regardless of what our circumstances look like, or the level of stress the pressures of this life place on us - when we choose to be grateful - His peace flows into our minds, removing confusion and bringing glorious clarity. His supernatural joy infuses us with mighty inner strength, and as we open our mouths to praise and delight in Him, heaven’s armies go before us, ambushing the enemy and clearing the way for God’s promises to be fulfilled! This is the reward of a sincere, thankful heart that delight in the Lord, based on the truth of who He is!
