Paul and His Motivating Passion

2 Corinthians 5:14 (AMPC), “For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;”

The Bible tells of more than one instance where Paul received firsthand revelation of our new life in Christ, from the resurrected Jesus Himself. So, when he ministered, he was most certainly empowered by the Holy Spirit and overwhelmed by the love of God. In Ephesians 3:16-19, he describes how believers can literally experience the love of God, knowing the height, depth, breadth and length of it! So that we can have the richest measure of God’s Divine Presence fill us to the full! It is entirely possible for us to become bodies wholly filled and flooded with God Himself! Hallelujah! It’s with this fervent love, that controlled and urged Paul and his colleagues to preach about the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and what it entails for every believer. Paul taught exactly what Jesus revealed to Him about the new man in Christ. He explained that when Jesus died, our own sinful natures died with Him. Ephesians 2:5-6 gives Paul’s explanation of what took place when we became born-again: “Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, … And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).” This truth was the motivating passion of Paul’s life! He wanted every believer to understand the glory and the wonder of having the life of Christ dwelling inside us by the Holy Spirit. It was his desire for all Christians to understand their position in Christ Jesus - being seated with Him in heavenly places, far above the rule of our enemy, the devil. It is a position of victory and authority, from which we are able to reign in life in Christ (Romans 5:17). Spend time meditating on what the Word says you have in Christ Jesus! Then, just like Paul, you will be so overwhelmed by God’s love that it will become your motivating passion to tell others this awesome truth too.
