1 Corinthians 14:13 (NKJV), “Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.”
1 Corinthians 14:14 says that when we pray in tongues, it’s the Spirit who prays. The Bible explains how we pray in unison with the Holy Spirit, together praying His perfect will on the earth. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Our partnership with the Holy Spirit is very powerful. In this life we face things that need supernatural answers, where our own natural minds are unable to perceive the solutions. That’s when we can trust the Holy Spirit to intervene for us. 1 Corinthians 2:16 says we have the mind of Christ, and Colossians 3:10 says that we have put on the new man of the Spirit which is constantly being renewed with the knowledge of Christ. Both these scriptures tell us that our reborn spirits have access to the knowledge and wisdom of God. 1 John 2:20 says, “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” Now it does no good to have the knowledge and wisdom of God in our spirit-man and not be able to draw it out. When we pray in tongues, that’s exactly what happens! When Paul said we should ask God for interpretation when we pray in tongues, this is what he was speaking about. He was Primarily addressing the gift being used in a corporate gathering of believers, but as we continue to read the passage, it’s clear he was addressing speaking in tongues in our individual capacity too. If you are needing God’s divine wisdom for a seemingly impossible situation, exercise your faith. Trust the Lord to reveal the answer to you as you pray in tongues. He has given you access to all His knowledge and wisdom by His indwelling Holy Spirit. Draw on it today, it’s His gift to you.
