Psalm 89:34 (NKJV), “My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.”

God’s Word is His covenant to us. We can stake our lives on its promises and live by its truth. We know, that in this life, bad things happen to good people all the time. In many instances (not all), this happens because of the wrong choices made. Wrong choices are often the result of wrong thinking. How do we remedy this? We renew our minds to the truth of God’s Word. When we do this, we literally take on God’s thoughts as our own.  Every time we replace a thought that is contrary to God’s way of thinking, with a thought from His Word - it keeps our minds in a secure and stable place. The Word literally causes faith and peace to rise up from our spirit-man and protect our minds from worry, anxiety and fear, where we are able to know God’s wisdom and make the correct decisions, as we are led by the indwelling Spirit of God. This is part of our covenant with God! He is the God who keeps us! Nehemiah 9:32 calls Him the God who keeps covenant and mercy with His people! 1 Peter 1:5 says we are kept by the power of God through faith! Did you notice the phrase, “through faith”? Faith is pivotal to us living in and benefiting from our covenant with God. We also know, according to Romans 10:17, that faith comes by us consistently hearing the Word of God. It’s impossible to have a living relationship with our covenant keeping God without His Word being alive in our hearts! And when it does - Praise God - we discover His covenant with us is unconditional. It’s not based on human performance, but on God’s Own dependable character! His Word is unchanging. When He speaks, nothing will cause Him to go back on His Word. This is an assurance we have as a solid foundation to trust in His promises, knowing that He will always fulfil what He has spoken. God’s character is perfectly consistent, and His promises are secure. The idea that God will not alter what He has said, shows that His Word is reliable and trustworthy. Thank God for keeping you secure in His covenant through your faith in His Word today! Remember, it’s not like any human agreement, it is eternal and unchanging. His commitment to you is solid and unshakeable - because He is your covenant keeping God!
