Isaiah 30:21 (AMPC), “And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.”

The Bible promises that we are never left alone to navigate life by ourselves. Because of the indwelling Holy Spirit, the wisdom of God is always accessible. The Spirit of God is our counsellor and the One who always leads us into truth. Because we are in Christ Jesus, we are expected to live, move, and have our being in Him! That means there is never a moment we are left without divine help and the voice of our Good Shepherd to lead us. Throughout the Word we are invited to draw near to God, to listen intently to His voice, and to lean entirely on Him, concerning every arena of life. We just need to learn to recognize His voice and distinguish it from every other voice. If we are born of God, we are able to hear His voice and be led by it. Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” The quickest way to recognize God’s voice is by becoming familiar with His Word. God’s Word is His will. It holds His thoughts and reveals His ways. The more time we invest in hearing and meditating on the Word of God, the more we are able to discern when it’s His voice speaking into our hearts or not. One distinguishing characteristic of God’s voice is the peace it releases into our souls. God always leads us by peace, never by fear or anger. In Acts 16:7, The Holy Spirit warned Paul about going into a particular area in Asia. Paul obeyed, and soon after received a dream from the Lord, directing them to go to Macedonia. In Acts 11:12, the Lord gave Peter a vision, explaining that the Gospel was to be preached to all people, not just the Jews. Directly after this vision he had the full confidence to go with strangers into a Gentile’s home and see an entire family saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit! Today, practice hearing the voice of God, trusting the Holy Spirit to speak directly into your heart, then test what you hear by the Spirit of the Word. It’s your privilege and inheritance to hear His voice, so take full advantage of being led by Him - every moment of your day!
