Proverbs 4:22 (AMPC), “For they (God’s Words) are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.”
God’s Word is the perfect remedy for our bodies to be healed and remain well. Proverbs says God’s Word is full of life and peace and healing for all that ails us. That word ‘health’ in verse 22 of Proverbs 4, literally means medicine in the Hebrew translation. So, just as we take prescribed medicine to make our bodies well in the natural; regularly renewing our minds to the Word of God will not just heal us but keep us in a place of divine health. 3 John 1:2 tells us that we will prosper in all things and be in health to the proportion of our souls prospering. The soul of a man is his mind (thoughts and intellect), his will, and his emotions. The only way our souls can prosper is through them being renewed to God’s Word. As we believe the Word, it literally releases the healing power of God to flow up from our spirits, where the Holy Spirit and His power reside (2 Corinthians 4:7). Then, our words of faith direct the flow of that healing power as we speak it over our bodies. The way we get this process going is made clear in the verses preceding verse 22. Verse 20 says we are to attend to God’s Word. That means we are to give it our full attention and make meditating on it a priority in our lives. We are to incline our ears to it. That means being diligent to listen to it intently - more than just once a week - in fact every chance we get. Verse 21 tells us to keep the Word in front of our eyes and in the midst of our hearts. Joshua 1:8 echoes this instruction to consistently meditate on the Word so that it will produce exactly what it says in our lives. The important truth to understand is that the same Word of God that gets us healed is the Word of God that keeps us healed. Don’t give the devil, who is a thief, a chance to steal your healing from you. He waits for when there is a weakness in our faith to try to convince us that our healing has left. However, if we don’t let our faith guard down - by being diligent to keep God’s Word reigning in our lives - the shield of faith will snuff out every lie-induced thought the enemy launches against us. So, keep your intake of God’s Word at the maximum, it will heal you and keep you well!
