Strengthened in the Inner-man

Ephesians 3:16 (AMPC), “May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].”

According to 1 Corinthians 6:17, because we are in Christ Jesus, His Spirit and our spirit have become one. The Bible tells us we are now a new-man in Christ, with a brand-new inner-nature! (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 4:24). That nature is exactly the same as Christ’s! Galatians 2:20 says our old nature was crucified with Christ and no longer exists - instead He now lives in us - in our inner-man! The Distilled translation says, “I consider myself as having died and now enjoying a second existence, which is simply Jesus using my body.” It also says that the life we now live, we live by the same faith God has! That faith is what causes us to walk in the reality of His kingdom right here on earth! All of these truths are basic, fundamental scriptures referring to our new identity in Christ. They are essential for the believer to have a working revelation of, because the life we are called to live, here on earth, cannot overcome or experience consistent victory without it! Since God is the Father of spirits (Hebrews 12:9), He has made a way, through His indwelling Holy Spirit, to consistently commune with us, lead us into truth, victory and freedom, and strengthen us with His supernatural supply of inner strength. Philippians 4:13 says, “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” When we learn to do what Paul strongly urges believers to do - walk every moment of every day by the dictates of the Spirit that dwells within us, and not the flesh - we become empowered with all things that pertain to living a life that resembles His Own! 2 Peter 1:3 says, “For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).” How do we do this? By acknowledging His Presence and power within us and consistently turning our attention to hear Him and obey Him. Proverbs 3:6 says that as we acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will direct and make straight and plain our paths. Paul sums it up perfectly in Ephesians 6:10, “In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provide].” Today, meditate on these truths, turn your attention towards God’s Presence within you and be strengthened in your inner-man.
