Our Secret Weapon

1 John 1:3 (AMPC), “…And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah).”

It seems as though the devil is able to counterfeit and corrupt almost every part of church life and use it to deceive believers and discredit our testimony. However, there is something that he will never be able to corrupt. That is our ability to intimately know God. John 17:3 says, “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.” This is our secret weapon against the enemy, because it is something he can never take from us. 1 John 1:3 tells us the distinguishing mark of a true believer is our intimate fellowship with the Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:5-6 says the evidence that we know God is the way we treasure His Word. When we allow it to transform us to live and behave like Jesus - we bear the fruit of truly knowing God. This may seem like too much to ask, but in reality, it is something we were created to do. Before the foundation of the world, God saw us in Him. He saw us living in an inseparable relationship, where we live, move, and have our being in Him (Acts 17:28). As we fellowship with the Lord, and actively embrace the transforming power of His Word, His indwelling Holy Spirit reveals God’s heart and will to us. This intimacy with the Lord fills our hearts with joy where it is our delight to obey His leading. Our heartfelt willingness to obey the Lord always results in us experiencing His divine protection, provision and favour. Prize your privilege of knowing God above all else - it’s your secret weapon against the enemy and your open door to the steady flow of God’s life and power in and through you.
