Give Wisdom Your Attention

Proverbs 5:1 (NKJV), “My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding,”.

When we train ourselves to always respond to circumstances from wisdom’s perspective, we are guaranteed to prosper in every arena of life. Romans 12:2 says, “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.” (TPT). It comes down to what we choose to place our attention on. If we are diligent to continually keep God’s Word alive in our hearts and minds, we will find ourselves thinking the thoughts of God, where His perspective becomes our perspective. Something we must be aware of is that we have an enemy of our soul, the devil, who tirelessly works to keep us from giving our full attention to the Word. He knows that our confident authority to withstand him is rooted in our knowledge of what God’s Word says concerning us. Which is why we must always be vigilant to know the origin of the thoughts that infiltrate our minds. Romans 6:16 tells us that whoever we give our attention to, will become our master. If we allow any negative, fear-filled thoughts to dominate our minds, we will become slaves to the spirit that fuels those thoughts. 2 Timothy 1:7 says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a Spirit of love, power and a well-balanced, sound mind. God will never lead or guide His children through fear, worry or anxiety. Instead, He leads and guides us through the Spirit of His Word which is recognized by love, power and a mind that is restrained by His wisdom. When our minds are confronted with conflicting thoughts that contradict the nature of God’s Spirit, we are to answer them by rejecting them and replacing them with God’s wisdom. This process becomes easier to do the more our minds are renewed to the Word. Give your full attention to God’s wisdom and give no room to any thoughts that are not aligned to Him. This way you will live the good and satisfying life that has already been planned for you to enjoy, since before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 2:10).
