Promotion Comes From the Lord

Psalms 75:6-7 (AMPC), “For not from the east nor from the west nor from the south come promotion and lifting up. But God is the Judge! He puts down one and lifts up another.”

As children of God, we don’t have to chase promotion. It will find us when we are pursuing the Lord! Did you know we can live in a place of promotion - it’s called the favour of the Lord. The Bible says that when the world makes you low, you can say there is a lifting up. It says, the Lord will lift up the humble person (Job 22:27). If humility is the requirement for being lifted up, we should know what it means to be humble according to God’s standards. 1 Peter describes the humility that brings God’s favour, as a submitting ourselves to the Lord. Instead of relying on our own wisdom or thought process, we choose His ways in place of our own. We lay down our own opinions and actions and follow after God’s - becoming fully dependent on Him and His perfect ways. In Genesis 26:1-14 Isaac gave attention to God’s instructions in spite of the opinions of others, and the favour of the Lord lifted him and his family above the drought and famine in the land. In 1 Samuel, David, the humble shepherd boy who loved the Lord and trusted in His covenant, was anointed to become king over all Israel, even though he seemed the least capable candidate amongst his brothers. Our dependency upon the Lord and obedience to His voice places us in the position of continuous promotion. It is within reach and within our hands. You never have to live outside of His favour, just submit yourself to Him and His favour and lifting up will be your daily experience.
