Delighting in Jesus - the Word

Jeremiah 15:16 (AMPC) “Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.”

Since the Prophet Jeremiah was convinced he was called by the Lord, he knew his life depended on and would be sustained by him loving and delighting in His Words. As believers today, we should have the very same conviction. God’s Word, either written or spontaneously spoken to us from His Own Spirit to ours, is truth. It is light and goes out in power whenever it is received into our hearts and released from our mouths. In John 1:1 we read that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God (paraphrase). Jesus is the Word of God made flesh! The written Word was inspired by His Own Holy Spirit and is alive with its wisdom. When we meditate on the Word, our attitude of honour and faith towards it will cause its power to immediately go to work in us! Its truth washes over our minds correcting every incorrect mindset and replacing it with God’s Own thoughts! The freedom we experience through this process is thrilling! It energizes and revitalizes every part of us - spirit, soul, and body! When we choose to delight in God’s Word, we are in truth, choosing to delight in Jesus! It’s easy to see how experiencing the Word of God this way is invaluable, like discovering and delighting in rich treasure! Treasure, incomparable to anything money can buy! Since we are filled with the Spirit of God, we have direct access to the heart and mind of the Father. 1 Corinthians 2:16 says, “For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.”  Delighting in the Lord and His Word, positions us to receive greatly and intimately from Him, since He knows He holds first place in our hearts. The Lord takes great delight in His children who love Him and follow His ways. This is how we overflow with His love and goodness, knowing He is for us and has His hand firmly upon our lives! God and His Word can never be separated, He is His Word and when we make it the final authority of our lives, He will always act according to what He has promised us.
