Matthew 8:17 (AMPC), “And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases.”
It is always God’s will to heal, because it’s a part of His redemptive plan! The Prophet Isaiah said Jesus would take upon Himself our weakness and faults, our physical and mental frailties and illnesses, and our diseases; to carry them away! That means take them right out of our midst! It’s also God’s plan to always heal, because He came to destroy the works of the devil, and the devil is the author of all sickness and disease (1 John 3:8, John 10:10). Acts 10:38 says, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” In the Old Covenant, God told His people that if they walked in His ways and were faithful to Him, He would take sickness out of their midst. According to Hebrews 8:6, the New Covenant we have with God, through Jesus, is more excellent, and with even better promises. In other words, the very same promises that were included in the Old Covenant are established in the New, and even better ones are added! God has made it possible for us to initiate our own healing by appropriating the promises of His Word! It may not always be instant, but it certainly is secure. The Bible teaches us that God’s healing power flows from various methods. One way is through our re-born, human spirits. Proverbs 20:27 says, “The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.” This is the place God communes directly with us (1 Corinthians 6:17, 1 John 2:27). Healing starts in our spirits and flows into our bodies, through our words of faith. Know that it’s your redemptive privilege to release God’s indwelling power to heal your body, by your words of faith. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you, and will quicken your mortal body, whenever you need it!
