Faith without Love isn't Faith

Colossians 1:4 (AMPC), “For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus [the leaning of your entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness] and of the love which you [have and show] for all the saints (God’s consecrated ones),”

Did you know that our faith in God speaks at a volume that everyone, including heaven, can hear? How we carry ourselves as followers of Christ, speaks to the world of how we have faith in God. In this scripture, we see that having faith in the Lord Jesus, and all He has accomplished for us, through the finished work of the cross, is evident in the way we trust Him! The AMPC versions says, “the leaning of your entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness.” When we have faith in God, others will have no doubt of our trust in Him and His Word. Strong evidence of this faith is the love we demonstrate for God’s people. Jesus said we are to love others as we love ourselves. Galatians 6:10 says that at every opportunity, we are to do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. While having faith to do the impossible is impressive, while we have any form of un-forgiveness or criticism in our hearts towards others, our faith will prove to be ineffective. When Jesus asked if He would find faith when He returns for us, that faith would need to include His unconditional love, or else it’s really not faith at all. Being persecuted by the world for our devotion and faith in God should not trouble us in the least. Jesus said we should rejoice when that happens, because He will most certainly reward us for suffering persecution on His behalf. However, when the true body of Christ cannot resolve petty issues amongst itself, or walk in love towards one another, the faith Jesus is looking to find, will be sorely lacking. Instead of immediately pointing a finger at the believers you know fall short in this area, stop to examine your own life. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where you fall short of honoring Him by loving His church unconditionally. Allow Him to deal with your own heart and then pray for those who you know need to see restoration in strained relationships amongst the body. Let’s kick the devil out of our household of faith - so that God’s love can flow unhindered, and we will not be ashamed of His coming.
