Galatians 6:9 (AMPC), “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.”

In the verses leading up to this, Paul was emphasizing the importance for believers to live from their spirit nature, and not their flesh nature. This is a dominating theme of Paul’s teachings throughout the New Testament. In Ephesians 1:17-23, we are taught the essence of who we are in Christ and what He accomplished for us through the finished work of the cross. We are to understand His glorious inheritance in us! His Spirit became one with our recreated spirits, at the point of our salvation. We are connected to Christ through His indwelling Spirit. Even though we are physically separated with His physical body being in heaven, and our physical bodies being here on earth - we are joined together in spirit - in other words, we share the same spirit! (1 Corinthians 6:17). This means His Spirit is in Him in heaven and in us here on earth - at the same time. Which is why Ephesians 2 tells us the same Spirit that raised Jesus up from the dead and caused Him to be seated at the right hand of the Father, in heavenly places, raised us up together with Him too! You are inseparably connected to the resurrected Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ! Like Jesus, your spirit is in 2 places simultaneously - in your physical body and in Christ in heavenly places. Which is why Paul keeps reminding believers to live from the reality of their spirits, and not be bound by the reality of their flesh. As we keep studying the Word of God, we grow in our understanding of who we are in Jesus and all we can have and do, because we are one spirit with Him. This is called renewing our minds to His truth. As we do this, our thoughts and words, and actions align with His - and not with the natural, carnal world around us. As we rely on the power of God that is in us, every act of obedience to His Spirit’s leading us is energized and endorsed by Him. Even when we don’t see the result of that obedience straight away, if we remain faithful in doing what He tells us to do, keeping our eyes fixed on Him and our thoughts engaged in the truth of His Word - we will see the results!
