Matthew 7:24 (ESV), “Everyone then who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
The Bible continually places great value on us not just hearing and agreeing with God’s Word but being careful to apply its wisdom and practical principles to our lives. In Joshua 1:7-8, God gave Joshua the secret to success. He was to not just continually meditate on and speak from the perspective of God’s Word, He was to make sure he did what it taught him to do. This is the exact foundation we are expected to build our lives upon. Jesus called people who hear and act upon His words wise. God’s Word has transforming power when we allow it to renew our minds. It literally washes away wrong thought processes and replaces them with thoughts that align perfectly to God’s wisdom. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active.” It really is alive with the Spirit of God, and that life is released from our spirits as we renew our minds to the Word. The Word of God we believe, causes faith to come up from our spirits, and that faith draws the life, wisdom and power of God to flow from our spirit-man into our lives. That power energizes and empowers us to obey and put into action the truth we believe. Philippians 2:13 (AMPC) says, “[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” There must always be a follow through from believing God’s Word, to applying it to our lives. This is the foundation of building a life of faith that will stand every test and trial. James 1:22-24 says that we deceive ourselves when we agree with the Word but fail to put it into action in our lives. It says we look into it as a mirror, see the image of who God says we are, but when we walk away without putting it into practice, we haven’t changed at all. Be sure to act on the Word of God that has become revelation truth to you. This way the transformation will be real, and you will be supernaturally empowered to move forward in life, fulfilling God’s perfect plan for you.
