Subdue The Enemy and Obtain Your Promised Blessings

Hebrews 11:33 (NKJ), “Who by [the help of] faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions,”

Through faith, we are expected to subdue the enemy, to administer kingdom of God justice, and obtain every promised blessing! The word subdue means to quieten or silence. Praise God, Jesus has already conquered the kingdom of darkness for us. We are not at war with the devil. If we were, it would mean he has an ability to combat us. But the Word teaches that Jesus stripped him of the ability to war against us when He triumphed over him and disarmed him of every weapon, he could use against us! (Colossians 2:15; Isaiah 54:17). The devil was stripped of his power and authority over us, he is a completely defeated foe! Our job is to enforce his defeat. Colossians 2:9-10 says that Jesus is the Head of all rules and has authority over the devil and all his power; and since we are in Him, we have been given authority over the devil too. Satan has been rendered inept and powerless concerning us, because Jesus has already fought him and won! So why does the Bible say we have been given weapons of warfare? 2 Corinthians 10:4 says the weapons of our warfare are for the pulling down of strongholds. Strongholds are thoughts that we have agreed upon, in our minds. Ephesians 6 explains how our spiritual armor consists of the helmet of truth - to protect our minds from any thoughts that are contrary to God’s Word. The breastplate of righteousness tells us that we are in right standing with God, and it is anchored in the belt of truth - which is God’s Word! The Word comes against every thought the enemy launches in our minds to discourage us or lead us to a place of defeat. The shield of faith is used to quench every opposing thought of the enemy. So, our battle is against the thoughts the enemy paces in our minds - lies in the form of fiery darts. When we choose to entertain those lies, we give the enemy permission to harass us.  However, when we remain rooted and grounded in the Word of God - we are well able to stand our ground to silence the enemy, enforcing his defeat; and to obtain every one of our promised blessings through faith - until Jesus comes!
