Luke 19:13 (KJV), “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.”
In this parable, there was a nobleman who had gone to a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return as a king. That nobleman is symbolic of Jesus, and the servants are His believers. Through the finished work of the cross, burial, and resurrection, Jesus won a whole new way of life and victory for us. Every promise in His Word has the answer ‘Yes’ to all who believe in Him (2 Corinthians 1:20). Since we are in Christ Jesus, we have inherited so much! However, unless we appropriate or occupy what has been accomplished for us, we will never enjoy and experience the reality of it. A question every believer should ask themselves is, “If something is legally mine, according to scripture, why am I not enjoying it?” The answer could very well be, “…because you are not appropriating or occupying what has been won for you.” When a war for territory takes place between two countries, the country that conquers, or wins the war must immediately occupy that won territory, or else it will be occupied by another power. Which is why the word “occupy” means “to hold territory”. When it comes to the born-again child of God, Jesus defeated the devil and conquered his reign of power over us. We no longer have to fight him for what Jesus won for us to have. Our responsibility is to understand, from the Word, what has been won for us, and to learn how to take occupation of it by faith. When the children of Israel listened to the negative report from the 10 spies who told them it was too dangerous to enter the land God had promised them, they lost out on their destiny, because they had no faith to occupy what was legally theirs. Most of the body of Christ is in the same boat today. They’re not occupying what belongs to them. They’re not occupying their prosperity. They’re not occupying their healing. They’re not occupying their promises. These things have already been conquered for us! So, the next time you pray concerning what is yours, say, “Father, thank You for all that is mine through the blood of Jesus! I believe I receive my healing now in Jesus Name!” You can pray this over everything that is legally yours through Jesus. It’s time to occupy what belongs to you - in Jesus Name!
