Ephesians 5:19 (AMPC), “Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord,”
When we make a habit of living full of the Holy Spirit - by continually receiving a fresh infilling of His power in our daily walk with Him, there will be certain characteristics that give evidence of Him living full in us. One will be to have a song in our hearts. When we are aware of God’s Presence within us, we always have something to be grateful for! And our thankfulness will cause a spontaneous flow of love, joy, peace, faith, kindness, goodness, patience, gentleness, and self-control to gush up from the spirit-man into the soul. This means that no matter what we face around us - we are steadfast in faith, because God is filling and flooding us with Himself. Romans 14:17 tells us that the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Why did Paul say it wasn’t eating or drinking? Well, when we read that phrase in context, Paul had just explained the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, when we are living by His Spirit. Instead of being caught up in what we can or cannot eat or drink, we should be caught up with what it is to be filled with the Holy Spirit and His Word. When we are living full of the Holy Spirit - we won’t have to have a conversation about what is right and wrong - we will already know by the Spirit within us and the truth of His Word, what is pleasing to the Lord. We will be led by the righteous nature of our inner-man that is possessed by the Holy Spirit! When, as a lifestyle, we choose to continually be aware of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence, and we are constantly meditating on the truth of His Word - we will always make melody with all our heart to the Lord. Even when the circumstances around us give us no cause to be grateful - we have every reason to be because of Who lives in us! The Bible says the Lord is our Helper! He is our Stand-by, and our Comforter! He is our Joy and the Lifter of our head! Make melody with all your heart to the Lord today and enjoy a fresh surge of His Presence flood in and through you.
