Be the Fragrance of Christ

2 Corinthians 2:15 (AMPC), “For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which exhales] unto God, [discernible alike] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing…”

E.W. Kenyan wrote: “The reason that the majority of Christians are weak, though they are earnest, yet they are weak, is because they have never dared to make a confession of what they are in Christ.” When you find yourself around Christians who have committed their lives to Christ yet are still caught up in their un-renewed carnal way of thinking and speaking - look past what you see in the natural and appeal to who they are in the Spirit!  Pull that new, perfect nature out of them by awakening their minds to the things of the Spirit! Not through preaching or reprimanding them - but through speaking and acting in the opposite spirit of their carnal minds!  When we refer to carnal minds, it may not necessarily mean active sin.  Many Christians think they are pleasing God or being humble, when they speak contrary to who they are in their spirit-man.  In other words, they confess that they are less than what Jesus has made them to be.  They continually run themselves down.  Now we know the Word says we are nothing within ourselves. That’s why we are to start acknowledging and confessing who we are in Christ Jesus!  Philemon 1:6 says this is how we make our faith effective! And this is vital for the believer because we are called to live by faith! When we begin to acknowledge and speak of all the good things that are in us because we are in Christ - we aren’t boasting about who we are in the flesh! We are boasting about the things God has accomplished for us in Christ! Mark Hankins, in his book, The Power of Identification in Christ, quoted John G Lake: “In all of your preaching and teaching you must always leave people with the consciousness of the triumph of Christ.”  When this becomes your reality, the joy of the Lord, your love for His Presence in your life, and the awareness of every good thing Christ has done in and for you, will flood out of you like a sweet-smelling fragrance - compelling others to become who they really are in Christ Jesus too!
