Pray in the Spirit

Ephesians 6:18 (AMPC): “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding on behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”

What is prayer without praying in the Spirit? If you feel that your prayers are failing to reach the attention of God, it could be that you are praying incorrectly. Praise God for His wonderful, powerful gift of the Holy Spirit! When we pray in the Spirit - whether praying in the gift of an unknown tongue, or according to the leading of the Holy Spirit as He prompts us from within - our prayers will always be dynamically effective (James 5:16)! Paul firmly instructed the Ephesian church to pray this way after teaching them about the armor of God. Prayer is part of the armor too. When the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God) is operating in our lives - our prayers will always be in and of the Spirit and powerfully effective! When we received Jesus, we received the armor, but we must be diligent to make sure it is in position and secured in our lives. This happens as we read the Word and apply it to our lives. Pursuing God’s Word and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit ensures this reality every time - regardless of your natural feelings. So, when you find yourself praying - pray in the Spirit!
