Yet I Will Rejoice!

Habakkuk 3:18 (AMPC): "Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation!"

The preceding verses to this firm stance paint the picture of what was surrounding Habakkuk when he finally made a resolution to rejoice in the Lord. Nothing was going as it should. Injustice, idolatry, and corruption were rampant in Israel, starting from its leadership and filtering down through its people. Habakkuk was desperate for God to act immediately. God told him the day would eventually come when injustice would be punished; but in the midst of evil, the righteous will live by faith and be saved. Habakkuk started to rejoice as he realised God was a covenant God, who could be trusted to take care of those who put their hope in Him. We've received a better covenant, based on better promises! In spite of the injustice and corruption we see all around us today, remember we can place our full trust and confidence in our covenant God to fully protect, provide for, and bless whoever puts their hope in Him! The Spirit of God lives in you; and He promises to keep you in perfect peace as your mind is fixed on Him. Just like Habakkuk, you don't have to wait for things to change before you rejoice. Rejoice in Him and His promises now, as you see Him take good care of you!
