Receptive Heart, Yielded Life

Psalm 119:59-60 (NLT): "I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands."

God has placed eternity in the human heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11). It's no wonder each of us has a burning desire to live on purpose, without regret or wasted time. And for the believer, there's an even greater desire to please God, and be a good steward of the life and purpose entrusted to each of us. But there is no achieving this without the Word of God in our lives, and the personal empowerment of His Holy Spirit. The extent to which we allow each to invade and influence our lives is dependent on our hunger and co-operation. Our level of surrender determines our level of success in the kingdom of God. Understanding they are essentially one, the Word and Presence of God both only have their full effect in our lives when we welcome them with our whole hearts, in their entirety; accept their instruction; and quickly do what they lead us to do. This is what fine-tunes our ear to the heart of God, and keeps us fuelled with His life, peace, joy and power! It's what directs our emotions when they drift and anchors us back to Truth. It's what gives us the appetite to not only know God more, but willingly live each moment surrendered to Him, because we have seen how good He is and are in love with His ways!
