Confidence in the Promises

Exodus 14:13-14 (NLT): "But Moses told the people, 'Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.'"

When the vast number of Israelites was heading out of Egypt, they simply held on to Moses' promise, stating that God would rescue them and lead them towards the Promised Land. Suddenly they were faced with a seemingly dead end when the Red Sea stopped them in their tracks. They immediately created uproar and blamed Moses for the predicament they faced. Since Moses heard the instruction straight from God, he responded with confidence and maturity and commanded them to be calm and watch the Lord Himself do a miracle that day. When you have heard from God and responded to what He told you to do, you can confidently stand firm in every situation, knowing He is for you and will make a way even when there seems to truly be no way. Romans 8:14 promises that being filled with the Spirit of God, and having His Word alive in our hearts and minds enables us the privilege to hear the Lord speak directly to us, and lead us every step of the way. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." This promise stands for every child of God. We can have that quiet confidence to be calm amid the uproar of voices shouting for our attention, because we have heard from the Lord. Don't be afraid; stand your ground and trust Him to fulfil His Word before your very eyes. He always honours His Word and moves on behalf of those who trust Him and are obedient to His instructions.
