Psalm 119:133 (NIV): “Direct my footsteps according to Your word; let no sin rule over me.”

God wants to direct your life. The sovereign Creator of the universe desires to lead and guide our steps every single day. The sad truth is many believers don’t know how to recognize the directing of the Lord, and try to direct their own lives based on natural wisdom and carnal emotions. The fundamental way God directs His children is by His Word! God gave us His Word not to just read every now and then, but to mediate on and draw from its divine wisdom as the final authority for our lives. God’s Word directs our footsteps! It is alive with His Own Spirit when we choose to open our eyes and hearts to it. In fact, Colossians 3:16 tells us to welcome its truth in our hearts and let it dwell in us richly! The book of Proverbs tells us to treasure its wisdom because it brings us life and healing; and Psalms 1 says it causes us to prosper and have success. The result of being divinely directed by the Word of God is that no sin is able to rule over us. Life no longer happens to us; instead it begins to flow from us! As you are filled with and divinely directed by God’s Word, you will experience life to the full!
