Strength to Possess the Promise

Deuteronomy 11:8 (AMPC): "Therefore you shall keep all the commandments which I command you today, that you may be strong and go in and possess the land..."

The Lord told the children of Israel that if they fully obeyed Him by keeping His commandments, He would give them the strength they needed to enter in and possess the Promised Land. In our New Covenant, we are expected to walk in unity with the Holy Spirit; staying attentive to His voice and following His lead as He reveals the will of God to us, through His written and spontaneous Word. This intimate relationship of trusting and obeying the Lord allows us the same guarantee of strength to possess every promise in His Word. Sadly, there are Christians walking in obedience, who receive this strength, but lack the faith to use it. David was able to slay Goliath, not because he possessed a supernatural strength, but because he had the faith to use it against the enemy. When God led the Israelites to the Promised Land, He never promised they wouldn't have to fight an intimidating enemy. He promised if they had faith in Him, and obeyed His instructions - they would win every battle. Today, have a confident faith to trust the Lord will keep His Word concerning you. It will give you the strength to possess all He has promised you - no matter the opposition.
