Persistent Prayer

Matthew 6:7-8 (NKJV): "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him."

Persistent prayer is powerful and effective! The problem is many Christians think being persistent in prayer is repeating the same words over and over like a ritual or chant. Now, praying until the breakthrough comes is not wrong, nor is it a sign of unbelief or doubt. What is important is what and how we pray. In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus taught on persistent prayer that always brings results because it is deliberate, based on truth, and full of faith. James 5:16 says the earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available and is dynamic in its working. Shallow repetition of words that are not based on the truth of God's Word, or are not offered from a sincere heart of confident trust in God, are completely ineffective. Understand, there is a spiritual battle raging as angels clash with enemy forces. Our prayers of persistence and faith are the ammunition supplied to those assigned to our aid. Never underestimate persistent, faith filled prayers that have great influence in seeing the promises of God fulfilled.
