No Surprise Here

Psalm 141:8 (AMPC): "But my eyes are toward You, O God the Lord; in You do I trust and take refuge; pour not out my life nor leave it destitute and bare."

In this psalm, David made it his mission and passion to fix his eyes on the Lord - rather than his external circumstances. He chose to place his trust in God. He expected God to be his refuge. Spending time with the Lord is vital to our everyday lives. When we are with Him, His truth and promises become alive and real to us. He reveals divine mysteries to us right here in the earthly realm. In 2 Kings 6, God revealed secret conversations the enemies of Israel had, to Elisha. When we draw near to the Lord and seek His face, the enemy's strategy to harm us can never catch us unaware. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. Since He doesn't speak on His own authority, but whatever is on God's heart, He will speak directly into ours; and He will tell us things to come. Let's pursue spending time in God's Word, in prayer and in worship; developing an intimate relationship with the Lord - this way we will not be caught by surprise.
