Looking Ahead

Philippians 3:13 (NLT):"...but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead."

The famous author, C.S. Lewis, once said: "There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind" but leaving things behind requires us to make the conscious decision to break away from the past and move forward. You can either dwell in the past, or live in the now with a hope for the future - the choice is yours to make. Paul said, "I focus on this one thing". He became single minded, completely focused on ensuring his yesterday didn't contaminate his present, or hinder his future. If this new year is going to be any different from the last, we need to be single minded, focused on the promises God has given us, for the future that awaits us. Determine to let go of any disappointments that would lead you into fear. Leave behind old habits that weighed you down, and tripped you up from moving in God's blessing, and hold tightly to the truth you've learnt from His Word. That way this new year will be unlike any before, as you make the decision to let go of the past and welcome the future!
