Consistently Moving Forward

Mark 4:24 (AMPC): "And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you-and more [besides] will be given to you who hear."

According to this scripture, the amount of attention we pay to the truth of God's Word will be the amount of virtue and knowledge that comes back to us, and more besides can be expected for us who choose to hear (meaning adhere to it). The phrase 'adhere to' means, 'to believe and follow its practices'; so when we pay attention to, believe and follow the truth of God's Word, we can expect an abundant source of virtue and knowledge in our lives. Knowing God and His ways are essential for every believer since God said we perish without it (Hosea 4:6). If we aren't understanding Who He is, and how His kingdom principles operate, or who we are in Him - we will never walk in the fullness of life He has for us. The word virtue means excellence of quality with regards to our nature, which is exactly what God's Word produces in us. Without it, our characters will never be able to sustain the increase of God's blessing in our lives. When knowledge and virtue actively work together in us, they keep us stable and steady as we consistently move forward in all God has for us.
