Wait on the Lord

Psalm 27:14 (AMPC): "Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord."

When Jesus said we have every reason to rejoice when faced with trials, it's because He had overcome the worst this world will ever throw against us; and if we trust Him, He will enable us to overcome too. Psalm 27:14 echoes two distinct ways He expects us to do this. They are to wait on Him; and to have courage. The word courage means to be strong and fortified, while the word wait literally means to have a hopeful expectation. In fact it means to fully expect to receive and embrace what you are hoping for. So when we are waiting on the Lord, we are in a posture to receive from Him. Throughout scripture we are told what to expectantly wait on the Lord for: freedom from shame, renewed strength, help and protection, the inheritance of the earth, the daily supply of our needs, and many more. We are also told how to wait on the Lord: quietly, expectantly, confidently, and continuously. If you are wondering how to overcome what you are going through, it's time to have courage and wait on the Lord, fully expecting to receive exactly what you need to get through - victoriously.
