Close the Door to Sin

Psalm 19:12-13 (NLT): "How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don't let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin."

Through the finished work of the cross sin no longer has power over a child of God who chooses to live in close fellowship with the Lord. This vital connection with Christ is a privilege we can enjoy through God's grace, and we live it by faith. It's absolutely essential for every believer to continually hunger for a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Lord. Confidently entering into His throne room to draw near to and receive from Him is the most wonderful gift. The more intimate a relationship, the more difficult it is to hide things from the one you love; this isn't only true for natural relationships, it's the same with our relationship with the Lord. Even if we aren't committing deliberate sin, things like pride, fear, bitterness or un-forgiveness cause a separation between us and God. Take an honest look inside you today. If you feel you are not able to experience the presence of the Lord as you once did, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what might be secretly lurking in your heart, give it to Him, and close that door to sin.
