Psalm 119:105 (KJV): "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
God's Word is likened to a lamp and a light. A lamp is used to light up our immediate surroundings, so we don't stumble or bump into something when it's dark. It's also used to light up the road ahead, so we can clearly see what's coming our way. As long as our lives are governed by the Word of God, we won't stumble and fall. Neither will we fall prey to the schemes and lies of the devil. When we know the truth, his lies stand out like red flags, making it easy for us to resist and reject them. As we meditate on the Word of God, we receive a clear picture of hope that we can hold on to, to keep our faith strong through any storm. His Word also allows us to see further than we've ever seen before. That's because God's Word illuminated in our hearts produces faith, which causes us to walk in the Spirit, where all things are possible, and victory is insured. Welcome God's Word into your life today - let it light your way.
