Healing Your Soul

Proverbs 15:13 (AMPC): "A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken."

It's one thing to be physically injured or hurt, but an entirely different one to be hurt in your soul. Our bodies have a natural ability to heal themselves and with medical attention, the healing process can be even quicker. However, when we have suffered an injury to our soul, through disappointment, stress, and emotional trauma, it takes a special kind of medicine to heal us. The Bible says when we surrender all our cares to Jesus and yield to His loving care; we will receive the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. This happens as we soak our minds with the truth of His Word. When we allow the Holy Spirit to use the Word to minister life and healing to us, as we meditate on it and apply its practical wisdom to our lives, healing comes. Today, begin to saturate yourself in the Word, let its power go to work in you. It will stir up a thankful praise in your heart until you overflow with the oil of joy - healing every hurt and brokenness in your soul.
