Love others as you love yourself

Matthew 22:39-40 (KJV): "And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Jesus said the first, most important commandment is to love the Lord; and the second to love others as ourselves. Which makes perfect sense since it's impossible to love ourselves and others without having a revelation of how much God loves us first. That's because loving God, the way Jesus requires, is only possible once we know what it means to be enveloped in His love for us. That unconditional, all-encompassing, fierce and deliberate love is what draws us into a total and willing submission to Him. This love is what makes sense of His ways and motivates us to walk in them with joy, confidence and ease. Only when we surrender to and continue to be filled with God's undeniable love are we able to love the way we should. Loving God and loving others as we are commanded to do, will keep even the temptation of sin far from us. It's time to honestly consider the condition of our hearts by asking how we love others.
