All of You

Matthew 22:37-38 (KJV): “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.”

What does it mean to love God with all your heart, soul and mind? In the Strong’s concordance, the three words together represent the entirety of who we are. It’s our thoughts, emotions, energy, devotion and free will. When we lovingly and willingly yield all of ourselves to God, we submit complete control to the Holy Spirit. That means we make our relationship with Him our top priority so that we can clearly hear and follow His lead in every area of our lives. We do this by engaging our hearts in the Word of God. That means eagerly seeking out its wisdom and deliberately applying it to our lives. As we trust and rely on the Holy Spirit to teach us, He causes the Word to transform our nature and character so that we display the character of Christ - and act as He does. Loving God with all our heart, soul and mind will empower us to live victorious lives within the liberating boundaries of God’s unfailing Word, causing us to experience overwhelming fulfilment in His perfect will.
