On Solid Ground

Psalms 62:6 (HCSB): “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.”

As children of God, we are not exempt from the hardships of life. What we do have, however, is an assurance that when trouble comes, if we hold fast to the Lord and root ourselves in His Word, we will have a sure hope that is an anchor to our souls. This hope we have in Him is rock-solid and keeps us steady, preventing us from being shaken or destroyed. Jesus taught us to be like the man who built his house on a solid foundation. When the storms and violent winds came and beat on his home, it remained secure and steadfast. Our foundation is made strong and immovable when we consistently give ourselves to the Word, and go after God’s interests with all of our heart. This is what builds and secures our faith, and causes us to overcome in this life! Make every effort to deliberately establish yourself in God’s Word each day. Regularly spend time opening your heart to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to fill you afresh with His power. Get involved with serving in your local church, and before long you will be standing strong in God - Who is your rock, and you will not be shaken.
