Keep what counts in your heart

Daniel 7:28 (NKJV): “This is the end of the account. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly troubled me, and my countenance changed; but I kept the matter in my heart.”

Nine of the twelve books of Daniel revolve around God-given dreams and prophetic visions. In chapter 7, Daniel interprets a prophetic vision of the end times. What he saw left him deeply troubled. However, in spite of all the horror, evil and trouble he saw, he also saw what truly counted - victory! He knew that no matter how dismal and hopeless things would get, God’s kingdom will still overrule everything - justice will prevail. He kept this truth in his heart. There may be much injustice in this world and evil may seem to prevail, but Jesus made a way for us to overcome it all - and bring life and hope and healing through His Holy Spirit living inside us. We have His Word of truth that holds His covenant promises; if we choose to be like Daniel and keep them alive in our hearts, we will know victory every day. As we focus on the truth that really counts, life peace and joy will fill our lives, and we will see and experience life through God’s perspective. His mercy and goodness and glory - far outshine any darkness.
